These are the official communication channels of the Opencast Community. If you are looking for support when installing or operating Opencast, we recommend subscribing to the Opencast users list; posting requires an account for GMail.
Opencast Announcements (community list)
- For all matters related to academic video (technical, didactical) in general and Opencast in particular; announcements
- More a newsletter, as users cannot post to this list; low traffic therefore
- Highly recommended for everybody interested in the Opencast software and community
Opencast Users
- For anyone who is testing or using Opencast and need support around installation, configuration and implementation
- For anyone who wants to support others who are using Opencast

Moodle plugin for Opencast

IRC Channel #opencast
- On irc.freenode.net, the chat group #opencast is used around the clock for real-time assistance by both users and develoeprs. Feel free to use the webchat webinterface to access this chat directly or find a client; in addition, this IRC primer.
Webmeetings
Best entry point to the community probably is our adopters’ meeting on the last Wednesday of every other month (cf. calendar below for details). The meeting is at 3pm UTC in Big Blue Button (password: welcome). An agenda for this meeting is usually announced a few days before the meeting on the users’ mailing list.
For developers, sysops, committers, contributors, and everyone interested in the further development of Opencast the technical meeting is a must every Tuesdays at 3pm UTC in Big Blue Button (password: welcome). An agenda will be announced before the meeting on the developers’ mailing list.
Last but not least, there is an adopters’ meeting for the german-speaking community on the last Wednesday of every other month at 15:00 CEST in the Opencast meeting space of Big Blue Button (password: welcome). An agenda for this meeting is usually announced a few days before the meeting on the german-speaking mailing list.
