Introducing Matterhorn's New QA Manager

UC Berkeley and ETH Zurich are happy to announce that Greg Logan from the University of Saskatchewan has agreed to take over the post of QA Manager for the Opencast Matterhorn project. The position sponsored by UCB and ETH is to safeguard code quality by coordinating QA work across committers.

Mobile Matterhorn available in the Android Market

Dear all,

I have the pleasure of announcing that the mobile Matterhorn application (Matterhorn2Go) is finally available in the Android market. We've fixed many bugs, design and usability issues since the release of the first test versions. Thanks for testing and your bug reports! iTool users please be patient - we are pretty close to also release the application to the Apple store soon.

At University of Vigo a start-up was born providing Matterhorn-based academic media solutions

The University of Vigo recently launched two new ongoing, very different, projects: Teltek and Galicaster.

TELTEK

TELTEK is a start-up company born at the University of Vigo (UVigo). TELTEK will be focused in providing open source IT-Media solutions for Academia.

As the developers and engineers working in TELTEK have been part of the team dedicated to the Opencast Matterhorn project on UVigo's behalf, one of TELTEK’s main goals will be the provision of Opencast Matterhorn solutions.

Announcing the Opencast Board Results

We are pleased to announce the results of our first board election!

As this was our first election, all 5 elected positions were open. All registered adopting organizations (http://opencast.org/matterhorn-adopters) were invited to cast their votes over the past 2 weeks. We had fantastic turn-out at the polls with all committing organizations voting and twelve adopting organizations casting votes. A big thank you to all participants!

Registered voters can view a list of the 2011 candidates and proceed to log in and cast your vote by September 23rd, 2011.

Announcing Matterhorn 1.2

We are very pleased to announce the release of Matterhorn 1.2!

The most prominent feature in the Opencast Matterhorn 1.2 release is the addition of Authorization capability for viewing recordings, allowing administrators to determine which groups have access to particular series of recordings.

Integrate with Matterhorn

The release of Matterhorn 1.0 paved the way for integration work to begin. Matterhorn is designed with the enterprise in mind, with the understanding that Matterhorn is but one cog (or several, in some cases) in the machine. We are especially excited at the prospect of those implementations of Matterhorn toward building a more coherent learning experience for students.
