The University of Vigo recently launched two new ongoing, very different, projects: Teltek and Galicaster.

TELTEK

TELTEK is a start-up company born at the University of Vigo (UVigo). TELTEK will be focused in providing open source IT-Media solutions for Academia.

As the developers and engineers working in TELTEK have been part of the team dedicated to the Opencast Matterhorn project on UVigo's behalf, one of TELTEK’s main goals will be the provision of Opencast Matterhorn solutions.

We are currently “beta-testing” with a limited number of customers and projects. We plan to start offering services and products on early January 2012, but will be more than happy to know about your needs and projects right now.

We hope to find common ground and synergies with Entwine and other companies of the Matterhorn ecosystem.

Our website is not fully ready yet but it could give you some insight: www.teltek.es

Galicaster

Galicaster is a Matterhorn-compatible recording device with a touchscreen interface. We developed it as TELTEK to fulfill the needs of one of our first customers.

Key features:

  • Touchscreen interface available.
  • Recording may be triggered automatically or manually.
  • Basic control of the recording in-place (start, pause, stop…)
  • Live visual feedback of what is being recorded, including a vumeter for audio monitoring.
  • Remote monitoring of the recording, via VNC.
  • Finished recordings can be browsed, played, deleted or downloaded from Galicaster as a single "zip" file (MH-Media package format)
  • Recordings can be ingested directly to an OC-Matterhorn core for publishing.
  • It’s compatible with Matterhorn scheduling system

Galicaster can be used as an automatic in-room recording solution for the classroom, keeping the professor informed and in control, or it can be used as a mobile unit, perfect for recording meetings and conferences.

First release of Galicaster software will be available under an opensource license for end users of Educational institutions on next December 1st.

We hope that TELTEK as a company and Galicaster as a project will add its bit to the success of the Opencast Matterhorn initiative.
