Roadmap Opencast Matterhorn

As a community-driven project, the further development of Opencast Matterhorn depends on the contributions and the commitment of community members, individual and institutional alike. This participatory model sees two major development efforts:

  • A Coordinated effort driven by contributed resources to complete 2011 roadmap features specified for the 1.1 and 1.2 releases. The overall project still lacks support in some areas, as referred to in “open issues”. If you’re interested in contributing funds or development resources toward the 2011 road map please contact Adam Hochman.
  • Community efforts, comprising of individuals and institutions outside of the coordinated effort, will contribute additional features in 2011. These efforts are often driven by an institution’s local requirements, but they usually serve the overall community in that other schools will find specific features useful to their local needs. These community contributions give breadth to Matterhorn by diversifying its feature set, increasing dev share, and expanding its overall capabilities.

Overall, this twofold approach ensures that Matterhorn continues down a path of foreseeable and reliable improvement as well as continued innovation to provide an affordable and compelling option for a multitude of academic institutions.
